New Aron

The day has arrived. We worked for and davened for this for quite a while. Our new Aron Kodesh is being installed. It’s such a boost to the Beis Midrash, the atmosphere, and a kavod hatorah. Our old Aron served us well. It was a durable friend but we needed something more appropriate for a chashuv beis midrash. And here it is:

Shmuel II:6:11 tells us about the Aron before which Dovid HaMelech danced after the defeat of the Pilishtim.  וַיֵּ֩שֶׁב֩ אֲר֨וֹן יְהֹוָ֜ה בֵּ֣ית עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֛ם הַגִּתִּ֖י שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה חֳדָשִׁ֑ים וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת־עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֖ם וְאֶת־כׇּל־בֵּיתֽוֹ׃ “The Ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and his whole household.”

The Radak says, “His sons and his daughters and all that was his was blessed with wealth and an increase in good in all matters because the aron was in his house.”

Such is the merit of housing the Toras Hashem. As Rabbeinu Yona writes, ואמרו רבותינו זכרונם לברכה (דניאל ב׳:כ״א) יהיב חכמתא לחכימין מפני כי החכמים מכבדים את התורה ועוסקים בה בקדושה. “And our Rabbis, may their memory be blessed, said (Kohelet Rabbah 1:17), ‘He gives wisdom to the wise’ (Daniel 2:21) because the wise honor the Torah and occupy themselves with it in kedushah. ”And he wrote אומר שלמה המלך עליו השלום (משלי ג׳:ט׳-י׳) כבד את ה’ מהונך ומראשית כל תבואתך וימלאו אסמיך שבע “Shlomo haMelech, alav haShalom, said (Mishlei 3:9-10), ‘Honor Hashem with your wealth, with the first of all your produce. And your barns will be filled with grain.’” (Shaarei Teshuvah, 3)

Building an aron for the Sefer Torah is like housing it. Dedications are available l’ilun a loved one, for $1,500 you can have a share in the new Aron. Additionally, the paroches for all year and the paroches for ימים נוראים can be dedicated. If you are interested, please contact us at kesher@ohryehoshua.com
