Yeshivas Ohr Yehoshua [Nesivos HaTorah] is the jewel of Beit Shemesh. Rav Kalman Shapiro, Ha’admor M’Piatzetzna of Beit Shemesh, calls it “the crown of the neighborhood.” As a branch of Yeshivas Tifrach headed by the Gaon Rav Aviezer Piltz, shlita, YOY is one of the leading yeshiva gedolos in Eretz Yisrael. The Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yosef Rubinstein, shlit”a, crafted the yeshiva to focus on the talmid-rebbe relationship as this is vital for producing talmidei chochamim.
As one of the pioneer yeshiva gedolos in Beit Shemesh, YOY was a catalyst for more yeshivos and Torah in the city. This benefits the entire community. In the words of HaRav Elimelech Kornfeld shlit”a: “The Yeshiva has been very Matzliach with their talmidim and their presence in the neighborhood adds a new dimension to the Avirah Ruchanit of the area. The bochurim have much influence on the local youth and the high level of Limud and Ahavas HaTorah has a profound effect on everyone.”
We are now lighting the Chanukah Menorah which symbolizes the knowledge and the wisdom of the Torah. The seven flames that represent the seven branches of wisdom incline toward the middle flame which was opposite the Holy of Holies. All other wisdoms defer to the one true wisdom of the Torah resting in the Holy of Holies. As one of only two yeshiva gadolos in Ramat Beit Shemesh Aleph, YOY endeavors to spread the light of Torah to its bochurim and to the community. Flames igniting flames. Someday, our bochurim will have families and bochurim of their own. Community support of the yeshiva spreads out to Klal Yisroel not only today but into the future.
Due to the current crisis, we have not been able to travel to chutzeh l’aaretz for fundraising. Normally, such trips provide a major part of our funding. So we are turning to you, on this online drive, to support the yeshiva in this difficult time. Your merits surely will be doubled because לְפוּם צַעֲרָא אַגְרָא “According to the labor is the reward.” (Pirkei Avos 5:23). Your merit includes schar in olam haba but also protection of your health and your parnassah. We are so grateful to have you as a partner.
Yehi ratzon we will all be zoche to HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kaniefsky’s special bracha for all our donors:
“May it be that they will be saved from every difficult and evil plague.” And with his pen he wrote, “children, health, and livelihood.” Chaim Kanievsky
